Obituary for William J. Loughlin

William J. Loughlin
William John Loughlin, born in 1936 and raised in Drumlease, County Leitrim, Ireland
Borm to William and Bridget, brother to Patrick, Laura and Charles.

Known to all of his family and friends as Johnnie.

He enlisted along with his underage brother Charlie in the Irish Army in 1952.  He was in the Irish Army for approximately 2 years when he  decided to leave Ireland and come to America.  In those days you came over as long as a relative had sponsored you and of course sent you the passage.  When he arrived in NY he lived with his older brother Pat and his new wife Margaret in the Bronx.

He eventually moved in with his sister Laura and her husband and was swiftly drafted into the US Army stationed in Ft Dix NJ where he served for 2years.

In 1965 he married the love of his life, Peggy Noon.  Peggy was one of 4 Irish sisters living together in Manhattan.  During their marriage, they had two beautiful children, Matthew and Dawn.

Johnnie worked for the MTA as a Bus Driver, in Manhattan until he retired in 1989. But you couldn’t keep a good man down, he went on to work in the Security Industry working at JP Morgan and later on at the Metropolitan Opera House and Carneige Hall.

He was always the life of the party, a fun loving friend to all.

He was dedicated to his children, and when they had their own children, being a grandfather  to Bridget, Trey, Christian and Michael, was his greatest joy.
