To Grandma

Grandma was more than a grandma to me. I always refer to her as one of my 3 moms (my mother, Aunt Foyfoy, and Grandma). She was my “funny mom.” Her sense of humor was one that only those closest to her fully understood. She would make serious issues and conversations humorous without even realizing how funny she was. Her stories and parables will forever remain in my heart, and I will surely pass them on as guidance for my 3 children. Her prayers and faith got me through the many trials of my life thus far. I will never forget the countless times in high school and college when I had to wake up at 3 or 4 am to get in a few more hours of studying or to finish a term paper. Grandma would always wake up with me to ensure that I was getting it done. She would make sure I had breakfast or coffee to give me energy for that early morning exam. She always sent me out the door with some peppermints because she said that the sugar would help my brain focus. And after I was gone for the day, she lit her candles in prayer that I passed that exam. She continued to light candles and pray for me long after I was gone for the day….. When I moved to Louisiana she prayed. When I was studying for the bar exam she prayed. When I was looking to secure a career for myself, she prayed. When I felt alone, she prayed. When I got married, she prayed. When I had my children, she prayed. Thank you Grandma for all your prayers, for the many many times we shared, and for being my third mom. I will cherish your memory for the rest of my life. Until we meet again…

Love,

Chrissy
