I have seen death too often to believe in death
It is not an ending, but a withdrawal.
Asone who finishes a long journey.
Stills the motor. Turns off the lights
Steps from the car
And walks up the path
To the home that awaits him.
I am not a fan of funerals, and neither was Marcel Senat, affectionately known as Iceberg. No Words can truly express the thoughts that went thought the minds of family and friends, or the pain that was felt for the loss of Iceberg.
There are no words to state the sadness that I have felt, or the thoughts that are going through every person's mind who is here today. We all have different memories of Iceberg, and different things that will make us sad. Iceberg was a wonderful man, and an even better friend and neighbor. We first met at Maxi, a domino spot, and we have been friends ever since.
I, and other who live in the community, sentimentally refer to Iceberg as the nice guy. His presence has made a positive difference in all our lives
Iceberg was one of the few people I've met that actually cared. It seems like. in todays world, it's hard to come by true friends. Iceberg was the type of person that would give you the shirt off his back. He was the man that would always be there. If you needed someone to help you, it didn't matter what it was, Iceberg would always help you out if he could.
A lot of people didn't know that Iceberg was the ideal person to speak with if you intend to get involved in a new venture. He would listen attentively and through his wisdom accumulated over the years, would provide invaluable guidance. He was always seeking knowledge, and would spend hours debating a topic, because he cared. Unlike many, he was positive, and would encourage you to pursue your goals. That alone is a character trait which unfortunately many people do not possess.
I know there are a lot of people right now hurting, because Iceberg was such a bright light in our lives. His family has lost such a special person. Iceberg wanted to be there for anyone who needed help. He was a gentle soul. He had his flaws, but he also had many fine qualities which has secured his place in haven.
Today the sun shines through the range as we picture Iceberg smiling face among the angels, no longer in pain. It is those who are left behind that must deal with the pain and loss we feel and while they are considerable, we can take comfort in knowing that he is where he is supposed to be, and one day we will see him again. When we remember what a good person Iceberg was, we can't help but smile, and as much as I am hurting today, I know he is in a better place. I want us all to remember to laugh and smile, and have a fun day, because we only get one life, and if we learned anything from Iceberg, we learned to enjoy our lives all the time because tomorrow is not guaranteed to anyone.
