Obituary for James T Reddan

Print
James (Jimmy) Reddan, 83 died on Friday January 11th, 2019. He leaves behind a sister, Maureen (Reddan) Sullivan and brother-in-law Raymond Sullivan, his nieces Kara Irvin, Susan Sullivan, Christine Acunto and his nephews Danny Sullivan and John Sullivan as well as eight great nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a beloved sister, Eileen (Reddan) Irvin and brother-in-law Dennis Irvin.

He was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to Ann (Coffey) Reddan and James Reddan, immigrants from Ireland.

He joined the air-force as an 18 year-old and was lucky enough to be stationed in England during peacetime. This gave him the opportunity to travel to Ireland numerous times where he was able to spend quality time with his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

After serving our country, he returned to Brooklyn, and worked for the United States Postal Service for more than 30 years. He was very dedicated to his job, often rising at 3:00 a.m.to arrive on time to work at the James Farley building in midtown Manhattan.

He enjoyed the simple things in life - fishing, the NY Giants, horse racing, the NY Mets, and loved four specific drinks: Tropicana orange juice, Canada Dry ginger ale, Coca-Cola and Budweiser. Much to the delight of his nieces and nephews he always had a fridge stocked with bottles of Coca-Cola that they could enjoy as well. We will be toasting him and celebrating a life well lived on Thursday, January 17th.
