Christine Bastien, age 92, passed away at Calvary Hospital in Brooklyn, New York on August 21, 2020. Christine was born on November 22, 1927 in the Dominican Republic and moved to Cap Haitien, Haiti late in her teen years. While in Cap Haitien, Christine met the love of her life, Richard Bastien. Prior to her marriage to Richard, Christine had two children: Rafael and Mathias who they raised together. They then went on to have three children in Cap Haitien: Marie Flore, Yves and Marie Alice. They later moved to Port au Prince and had 4 more beautiful children: Cleore, Marco, Vlady and Edy. Christine was a dedicated and hard worker. She worked as a patissiere. Christine was a devoted and loving mother. She was very proud of her family and was excited to become a "Granny" to all her grandchildren. That moniker superseded her real name. She was everyone's "Granny". Granny loved holidays and family get-togethers; and chance to spend time with her family was important to her. Granny was known for her good sense of humor and being everyone's confidant. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Christine was the beloved wife of the late Richard Bastien. She was predeceased by 3 of her children : Mathias Jonaime, Vlady Gauvin and Rafael Romain. She is survived by 3 daughters: Marie Flore Frederic, Marie Alice, Cleore Gauvin and 3 sons: Yves Bastien, Marco Bastien, Edy Bastien; as well as a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren who loved her dearly. Family and friends will gather at the McManus Funeral Home 4601 Avenue N Brooklyn, New York 11234 on Friday, August 28, 2020 for visitation from 5:00 to 8:00pm and a Funeral Service at Mary Queen of Heaven RC Church 1326 East 57th Street Brooklyn, New York on Saturday August 29, 2020 at 10am. Interment will follow in Canarsie Cemetery
