Beryl Cecilia Ross Stanisaus passed away peacefully in her home on November 14, 2020 at the age of 94. She was the oldest child, born on August 14, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York to parents, Walter and Clarice Ross. Before she was six months old, Beryl was sent to live with her grandmother, Catherine Radix, affectionately known as " Nen". She and her younger siblings, Laura, Rita, Walter and Evelyn lived with their grandmother into early adulthood. One by one Beryl and their mother worked to ultimately bring all of the children to the United Sytates.

Beryl was always an excellent student and first attended St George's Proprietary School, Grenade, West Indies, and later began High School at St. Joseph's Convent. At age 18 Beryl returned to Brooklyn, New York, where she finished High School and was accepted into Howard University's Dental Hygiene program in Washington, DC. At Howard, she obtained her degree in Dental Hygiene and began work for the City of New York as a Dental Hygienist.

It was at Howard University that Beryl met and later married her husband, a young dentist and subsequent Ambassador to the United Nations, representing Grenada, West Indies, the Honorable Dr. Lamuel Arnold Stanislaus. The couple raised five children: Lamuel, Galen, Karen, Eugene, and John. Beryl and Lamuel were married for 64 years until Lamuel passed away on September 18, 2016.

In addition to assisting Lamuel in his dental practice for several years, Beryl dedicated her life to raising her five children. As the eldest sibling, she provided love, care, and support to her siblings and other family members. She was gentle and loving, always giving of herself for the sake of others. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker. Hers was a welcoming home, where one felt safe and secure.

Beryl enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing, knitting, shopping, and reading. She was optimistic and always prayerful. She led by showing a good example. She was proud, yet humble.

On February 7, 2013, Beryl received the prestigious, distinguished honor and title of: "Lady" Beryl Ross Stanislaus, after her husband, Lamuel, was knighted by the Queen of England, and after he was recognized under Grenada's National Hero's legislation.

Beryl delighted in her grandchildren: Jennifer (deceased) Tyson, (Sophia) Justin, Tara, (Christopher) Jason, Travis, Jeremy, (Alicia) and Jeanine. She was thrilled about her great-grandchildren: Genevieve Grace, Maya Loren, and Stella Solei.

She leaves behind her two loving sisters: Rita and Evelyn, loving in-laws Thomas and Yvonne, numerous nieces and nephews, goddaughter, Debra, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Love in left to her late husband's sisters, Judith (104 years old and counting) and Tina.

Thanks, appreciation and love is left to Beryl's children and family, especially her sons, Lamuel and John, who lived with her daily and cared for her unceasingly. Thanks also to Catherine Richardson, a dear and compassionate family friend, and to niece, Theresa.

Special thanks to Dr. Donald Moore, Dr. Elyse Dubin, Fofoy Cesar, and countless others who eased Beryl's suffering, especially in her final days. Finally, to Monsignor Paul Jervis, St Francis of Assisi/St Blaise Church, Organist, Pierre, choir and staff, we thank you.

Beryl is now joined together in peaceful love and harmony with her sister Laura Jack and brother Dr. Walter Ross, both of whom predeceased her. as well as her mother, Clarice Ross and her beloved husband,
Lamuel A. Stanislaus.
