Obituary for Lavern Albert-Andre
Lavern “Sassy” Mansa Albert-Andre transitioned peacefully in Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center on Saturday, February 6th, 2021 in Manhattan, NY at the age of 47 years old.
Lavern is survived by her parents Leroy Albert and Anzie Coppin. Her spouse Pascal Andre, 2 children Brytnie Albert and Briana Andre. Her 2 siblings Dovie Albert-Henclewood and Nicole Albert-Muller. Grandchildren Mansa Lauryn Albert and Menelik Lennox Albert. Lavern is preceded in death by Samuel Coppin her grandfather.
Lavern “Sassy” Mansa Albert-Andre was born on September 20th, 1973 in Georgetown, Guyana to Leroy Albert and Anzie Coppin. Lavern graduated from CUNY New York City College of Technology in 2000 with a degree in Nursing. Lavern married Pascal Andre, the complete love of her life in 1996. After moving to Brooklyn, NY she began working for Maimonides Medical Center as a full time Staff RN on K6 (Oncology Floor). Over 25 years the couple welcomed 2 children into their home Brytnie and Briana and set about teaching them about life. Brytnie and Briana remember their mother as a sweet, kind, witty and private soul.
In continuation, Lavern was placed on Dean’s List Honor at CUNY New York City College of Technology in the years 1995-1996 where she excelled top of her class. She was given a Nursing scholarship to work in Beijing, China. She was granted top Nurse of the year in 2006, 2008, and 2012. Lavern accomplished nursing at New York Presbyterian Methodist Hospital and last worked at NYC Health + Hospitals Corporation/Bellevue. All in all, she had a spirit of tenacity, grace, and love for everyone who knew her. Lavern was passionate about saving lives, helping everyone, and motivating others to live a God-ordained life.
A funeral is scheduled for Friday, February 19th, 2021 at John J. McManus Funeral Home 4601 Ave N Brooklyn, NY 11234 with a reception to follow at Murette’s Banquet Hall 4618 Ave N Brooklyn, NY. Pastor Gary Bobb will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Lavern’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Pascal Andre at 1703 E 46th St Brooklyn, NY 11234.
