Obituary for Mona Guerrier

Mona Apollon Guerrier devoted and loving, daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and grandmother; after a long fight with Kidney disease, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the age of 75.
Mona was born on November 16, 1945 in Port Au Prince, Haiti. The oldest daughter of Victoria Ferrier and Gustave Apollon. She was destined to live a life of purpose.
Her formative years of education were spent in Haiti. She immigrated to the United States, continued her studies and received her Registered Nursing Degree. As a nurse, she dedicated her life to caring for all who crossed her path. During her 30+ years career, she worked at Maimonides Medical Center, Methodist Hospital and Lutheran Medical Center, Mona was an advisor, cheerleader, confidant, friend, teacher and mother. She believed in tough love. She was determined to help her colleagues.
Mona was known for adding a healthy dose of compassion, dignity, reprimand and respect as her formula to life.
Mona’s motto was “If the Lord blessed me with the opportunity to eat, it is my calling to help others be fed.” She was a devout catholic. Mona made many Pilgrimages to places like Israel, Egypt, Dominican Republic, the Vatican City and her beloved Haiti. She loved to travel and learn. She had the opportunity to visit many European countries. England, France, Belgium, Spain, Switzerland to name a few. And even toured to the Great Wall of China. Wherever she traveled she made friends. Mona helped make many children’s dream in Haiti come true. She invested in their education and livelihood.
Mona married Pierre Guerrier and raised two daughters Nathalie and Katia. She is survived by her husband Pierre, daughters Nathalie Clarke and Katia Guerrier, her siblings Gustave Apollon, Yves Apollon, Guirline Apollon ,
Frantz Apollon and her beloved grandchildren Courtney Clarke, Joshua Guerrier and Jordan Guerrier.
We wish to acknowledge the predeceased Gustave Apollon, Sr. Victoria Ferrier and Ghislaine D’Apollon., who have already gone to be with the Lord.
